The company was founded as ColorStyle in 1981 by Carla Mathis after years of working with Suzanne Caygill, the originator of the modern color movement. In 1994 Carla published, The Triumph of Individual Style, which quickly became a bestseller and is now taught at the leading design schools in the country. In 2005 the company was re-branded as Body Beautiful with the goal of reaching more people with the message of self-acceptance and personal style.
